2024 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 Spied Near Ooty – Launch In 2024?

The upcoming 2024 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will be the company’s third localized bike after the Ninja 300 and W175

Kawasaki does not have an able competitor in 300-500cc ADV motorcycle space. Royal Enfield’s Himalayan 450 sees high demand along with the KTM 390 Adventure. Kawasaki used to be operational in this segment and is eager to re-establish a presence again. That’s where the new Kawasaki Versys-X 300 comes into action.

This will allow Versys-X 300 to ably compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 which starts at Rs 2.85 lakh (Ex-sh) and the KTM 390 Adventure which starts at around Rs 3.4 lakh (Ex-sh). This will be the company’s third localized bike after the Ninja 300 and W175.

Where features are concerned, the new Versys-X 300 will be largely the same as its earlier counterpart. It will weigh around 185 kg, and get spoked wheels with tubed tyres measuring 19 inchers front and 17 inchers rear. Ground clearance will stand at 180mm and travel suspension at 150mm.

A tall windscreen with large side fairings, a semi-digital display unit, an upswept exhaust and tall-riding height will also be a part of its makeup along with a single-piece stepped-up seat and raised handlebars.

Specs and features

As observed by our source, Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will get halogen headlights and turn indicators. The instrument cluster was identical to that of what Ninja 300 offers. Kawasaki test engineer informed our source that the convoy (Ninja 300 alongside) arrived from Pune and the bike will launch around March 2024.

This particular test mule had panniers too and will be sold as an optional extra. Mechanically, India-spec Kawasaki Versys X-300 will share its engine with Ninja 300. This 296cc engine in Ninja 300 makes 39 hp power at 11,500 rpm and 26.1 Nm torque at 10,000 rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets an assist and slipper clutch. It will receive RSU telescopic suspension at the front and mono shock at the rear while braking will be via disc brakes at both ends with dual channel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).

Previously, Versys-X 300 was launched via CBU route and commanded a hefty Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. India-spec 2024 Kawasaki Versys X-300 is taking the localisation route and prices could go below Rs 4 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G310 GS, and Royal Enfield Himalayan in the domestic market.

Bajaj Freedom is the world’s first CNG motorcycle and is aiming to disrupt the 125cc commuter’s segment. The Freedom is one of a kind CNG powered motorcycle. With the CNG, the motorcycle’s running cost will be lower than its petrol counterparts, which will be easy on the pocket. Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spotted Testing Again: A Closer Look At The Bike

Quick Highlights

  • The Kawasaki KLX 230 S was spotted testing again

  • Likely to launch in early 2025 in India

  • Will rival the Hero Xpulse 200 4V

The upcoming dual-sport bike, the Kawasaki KLX 230 S was spotted testing again, it is already sold in the international market and is likely to be launched in India by early 2025. We had a peek at the bike in May. Here’s what you can expect from the Kawasaki KLX 230 S:

The Kawasaki KLX 230 S has a purposeful dual-sport bike design with its body panels inspired by Kawasaki’s motocross bikes, a high fender, motocross-style handlebar, and an upswept exhaust. While the bike overall has a good-looking design, Kawasaki has added a saree guard to comply with the laws.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spotted Testing Again: A Closer Look At The Bike

While the official specifications are not out yet, we think the test bike has similar specs as the internationally sold KLX 230 S. It looks like the test bike is powered by a 233cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces around 19PS and 19.8Nm. Its rival, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V comes with an air-/oil-cooled 4-valve single-cylinder engine, producing 18.9PS and 17.35Nm.

The power figures of the KLX 230 S and Xpluse 400 4V are close. However, what sets the KLX 230 S apart is its kerb weight of 134kg as opposed to the Xpluse 400 4V’s kerb weight of 159 kg. A massive weight difference of around 25kg, which matters a lot while riding off-road.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spotted Testing Again: A Closer Look At The Bike

It has a perimeter frame and is suspended on a 37mm telescopic fork with 158mm wheel travel and a monoshock with 168mm wheel travel. The long wheelbase will help the bike be more stable on the highway and has a good amount of ground clearance of 210mm. Its accessible seat height of 830mm paired with its sleek design will be welcomed by entry-level riders looking to develop their skills on the bike without getting intimidated. The bike rolls on 21/18-inch wheels and is wrapped with dual-purpose tyres from MRF. The braking department is taken care of by 240mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes, with dual-channel ABS.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spotted Testing Again: A Closer Look At The Bike

The KLX 230 S has a basic headlight, signal lights setup and an LCD instrument console that displays speed, fuel level, time, odometer and trip meter readings. It also comes with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY app. An important feature for the offroad enthusiast is the switchable ABS feature, which will enable the rider to turn off ABS for the rear wheel, for a better offroad riding experience.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spotted Testing Again: A Closer Look At The Bike

All these things sound sweet, however, Team Green will have to price the bike competitively to challenge the Hero Xpulse 200 4V priced at Rs 1,46,276 (ex-showroom, Delhi). To tackle this, the bike will be heavily localised and we would like to see the Kawasaki KLX 230 S priced under Rs 3 lakh. Having said that this will be Kawasaki’s most affordable dual-sport bike in India and overall a good package for an entry-level rider.

Royal Enfiled Guerrilla 450 to get semi-analogue display; will be priced aggressively

Royal Enfield, through teasers, has announced the launch date of the Guerrilla 450 and it will debut in Barcelona on July 17. Videos featuring former racer and Isle of Man TT superstar Guy Martin with the new motorcycle are circulating on social media. Despite the fast-paced reel with quick cuts, these videos give us a glimpse of what to expect from this motorcycle.

The teaser reveals that the upcoming Guerrilla 450 will have a semi-analog speedometer, likely similar to the one on the Super Meteor 650. Previously. This was uncertain earlier, but the recent teaser featuring Guy Martin did hint at something different as well. The footage shows Martin riding the motorcycle both on and off-road. The Guerrilla 450 may be able to handle some light rough-roading as well with the blocky tyres.

Display found on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Another noteworthy thing is the basic componentry compared to the Himalayan, hinting at Royal Enfield’s aim to maintain a competitive price point. It shares the same engine as the Himalayan 450 and is likely to produce similar figures of 40hp/40Nm, though there may be some differences in tuning.
